Why do children in Nepal have so much decay?

Lack of dental education in the adult community. The relatively recent introduction of processed sweet food and drinks to remote areas without appropriate dental health advice about the damage to children’s teeth has lead to an explosion of rampant dental decay in young Nepalis. Sugar addiction starts early with a boiled sweet on a stick used as a pacifier before the baby even has teeth. Then sugar or sweet biscuits are added to the children’s first food (tsampa ie roasted buckwheat). The sugar addicted children then demand lollies which are very cheap.
